End the drama and raise a tech-responsible kid with this "dumb" smart phone that puts you in control of what your child has access to on their phone and that grows with your child.
Does monitoring push them away or is it like giving them floaties when we teach them to swim? The BIG mom debate! This IS the one thing I could have understood better before I gave my kids a phone. I have talked about this in other episodes but just can't emphasize it enough. (Listen or see full transcription below!)

In this episode I talk about what phone or device to give your kid when you are wanting to give them their first phone, they're asking about getting their first phone, or you need some way to keep in touch with them when they are away from you.
Since kids are getting phones at younger & younger ages, it is so so so important to understand that the smart phone is likely not the best thing to give from day one.
Listen in for the five most common options, three of which I WISH I had when my kids were at a point of getting their first phone! Be THAT Mom!
Eeeeek! Ever wonder how your kid shows up in the classroom? Are they confident and focused, or are they distracted and anxious? Do they give up their phone easily, as they are used to those boundaries at home, or panic if the phone is not in their immediate possession.
.
I'm afraid my kids were likely the latter, until recently, as I had no clue where or how to set boundaries, or that it even mattered (until it was crazy evident that it did)!.
.
Tune in to this episode for an interview with my good friend Maggie Toney, who is a mom of five, and a teacher of teens, where she shares her unique perspective from the vantage point as a mom to her kiddos ranging in age from six to twenty three, and her observations of how the boundaries and precedent around these things at home is mirrored in the classroom.
.
Oh and psssttt... if you are THAT mom that is like... yikesssss... I had no idea! Don't worry! ...
.
Today we chat about the many perks and opportunities opened up by the digital world. Listen in to learn more about these six options that you can start doing today!!

If one or two decisions could change the trajectory of our children's lives while growing up in our interconnected digital age, these could quite possibly be it.
(I sooooo wish I would have known these things years ago when I made this decision for my kids, each one getting one at younger and younger ages.)
It is often an exciting time for both us and the kiddo, but we also must realize that it is like a portal to the world, allowing access to our kid and our kid to the world, opening the door for comparison and feelings of inadequacy to enter their realm of awareness, while ushering their innocence out the door.
Listen in for my tips on making this decision if your child does not yet have a phone, or if needing to back pedal a bit on that decision if already made.
