Alrighty. I am so excited to be back today because there is something new that you need to know about. There's actually two things that you need to know about. And I was so chomping at the bit to share these things, but I wanted to get my hands on them and figure out more of the little innuendos, because I'm never going to share something that I'm not personally using myself that I don't personally completely wholeheartedly believe it can help you. So I've been waiting and waiting and waiting like on the edge of my seat to be able to do this episode. So today we're going to talk about the first one and it is something that is like a mother's dream, a dream come true. It is absolutely what we have needed. So let's chat about it. Stay tuned,
Welcome to your source for tips, tools, and support to help you be that mom that is tuned in and proactive for yourself, your family, and for the wild ride of raising kids in this digital age, inspired by a mother's love with a relatable, real life. Proud to be that mom flair. This is the bead that mom movement with your host Dolly Denson.
I seriously could not wait to, to chat with y'all about this. It is something that I have wanted and just hoped that we would have in the world because this whole thing of being a mom in the digital age and all of the things that's wrapped up with it is just so, so hard. And so having different things that can help us with this and monitoring the tech and all of the stuff is such a mother's dream come true. And I wish that I could kind of like package it up and then go back in time, like a time capsule go back in time to about like five years ago and make different decisions and have these things in place. So I am so, so, so very thankful for companies like bark that are on the cutting edge of helping us parents to, you know, change this trajectory of what our kids are in and doing our poor kids are like the victims of this digital age.
I mean, adults have trouble dealing with digital addiction and always checking their phones and stuff like that. So why did we ever think that our kids could navigate it too? And I know that it's just, it just happens to be that, you know, it all has kind of emerged and it just had to be something that we learned over time. So no like blame or anything there, it's just amazing how much of an impact it has and how much we have not known as all of the smartphones and things have come to be. So what I'm talking about today is called bark home. Holy cow, I cannot contain my excitement, bark home compliments, barks system of monitoring mobile devices. So this is basically complementing bark services that they already had for the mobile things. And now it's monitoring your home devices that hook up to your wifi.
This has several implications that are just exactly what we need right now with all the virtual learning in all of the things it truly, truly is. So let's talk about what this is, how it's going to help you and why you need to just switch over, click the link in my show notes and get this ordered today. Okay. All right. So bar comb is basically like a filter. It hooks up to your wife. I router that you already have in your home. Now I will tell you that, like, when I ordered it, I told my husband about it. He's the tech guy, the guy, he knows all of that stuff. I don't know that stuff. It looks like it's Greek to me. So when it comes to knowing how to set up the filters and things, I just don't know it, it makes sense to him, but it doesn't make sense to me.
And so he's always monitored that thing. Okay. And that's great. He knows what he's doing, but most of us out there don't know what we're doing. We don't have the mental bandwidth to figure it out. And so we need something that's user friendly that has little switches to toggle on and off. That makes sense in our, in our language. Right. So when I got it and my husband was like, okay, well I already have all that stuff set up on there. Like, you don't need this. I already had that set up. Well, I told him, this is just something that's going to be more user friendly for most parents that don't have this tech savviness behind them. And that's what he said is it's basically simplifying it and making it more user friendly for you. And that is the point. Okay. So it comes in a little bitty.
Uh, it comes in a box. It's a little bitty white thing. You hook it up to your wifi routers. Very, very simple. Just plug it in. And then you go to a website called go.bark.us. And then it's going to walk you through the steps of setting it up. You will see that it's going to detect like all of the devices in your house that use your wifi. And I don't know how many you have in your house, but it finally detected something like 26 in my house. Like seriously, I had no idea that many devices are hooked up to our wifi. So when it hooks it up, if it's something that you haven't already identified in bark system, it's going to give you a name, same like Mac book, like iPad, like Roku. And, you know, it'll tell you the type of device it is.
And then you don't really know where it, who is it is or where it belongs. If you have multiple ones in your house. So then they have a website called me dot bark dot U S and you go to that device that you're wanting to monitor, and you put that website in, in the browser. And then it's going to tell you which device that is. Then you could go back to your dashboard at go dot bark, dot us, logged into your account, and you can rename it and click it as something that you want to assign and to be monitored. So the really cool thing about this is that it's going to detect all of those devices and it's going to monitor all of them at a high level for extreme content. So that means it's going to monitor for pornography for extreme violence, for drugs, for things that, you know, accessing sites that are obviously going to be wrong.
It's going to monitor those on a high level, all devices. It also will tell you if new devices connect to your wifi. So that means when the kid's friends showed up today and you know, they know our wifi because we trust them and they're at our house all the time. Um, it told me that their device hooked up to our wifi, into the bark home. And so that's not going to set any type of screen time limit. It's not gonna, um, you know, do anything to their device, but it monitors all of them across the board at a high level. That means that you can have this stuff monitored and a kid can't come over here and then access all of the things that you don't want your kid accessing. You know, even though you're not monitoring their system closely. So when you assign a device to a kiddo that you're monitoring, then you have certain controls that you can set up for that kid.
You can manage their screen time, how much screen time they are allowed when they have to get off, you can block apps, you can allow apps, it will filter websites. It will monitor phones, tablets, gaming, consoles, RO coups, everything, and you can set up controls for like bedtime school time. Did I just say that already, um, allow in block sites and schedule time where they have to be off their devices. So if you've got kiddos doing virtual school from home, this will help you because it's going to monitor at the wifi level. So, you know, if you, your kid has a Chromebook that they've been given from their school, it's gonna, you can, you know, you hook that up to your wifi. So it's going to monitor that at that higher level. Now, as far as like assigning it, I'm not sure exactly how much it will monitor, but I believe that you can still assign that and you can control the screen time and things that level you're not in the Chromebook, you're not changing any of the settings in the Chromebook, but you were monitoring it and doing the things at the wife level like seriously, have you not clicked over yet and order this from my link, like, Holy Holy cow.
So this is a dream come true. This is like what we have needed. Now I know there are other things that are out there like this in some of them I have mentioned on my podcast, but here's the beauty of this. It integrates with the system that you're already using, or that you're going to use to monitor their devices. So it's a home monitoring and it's away from home monitoring. It all works together. What I have found and why I have not mentioned some things on my podcast, what I have found when I researched it is some things would work against, like, if you're using bark, there's some wifi things out there that work against bark. So they counteract each other. They don't work together. And then I've heard about other wifi type things that slow your wifi speed or download speed, whatever that is slows it way down to where it's not ideal to use it.
And you end up not using it. There's a couple of different ones out there that are pretty popular, but I always hear that complaint about them. So that's bark home is so beautiful because it will integrate with the bark monitoring of their devices. Now you do have to have a bark subscription to use bark home, but if you use my code, be that mom for a bark subscription, it is 20% off for life and you pay nothing extra for the bark home. You buy the bark home and then it just hooks up and you are good to go. And the cost for bark for, for, uh, you know, monthly, or if you pay the annual subscription is crazy affordable. If you think about it, monitoring all of the, those devices, 26 devices in my house. And if I had multiple kids on there, it would monitor all those kids for the same price and it can be canceled at any time.
Like seriously, it's a no brainer. It is just such amazing value. And as someone who is sitting on the other side of so many struggles in this realm of raising my kids without knowing the impact and giving them smartphones at too young of an age, allowing social media, allowing all of the things, not having a glue, I can tell you, this is exactly what we all need. Okay. There's another thing I'm going to make a podcast about. And that will probably come out in the next couple of days that you're going to want to hear about too. But this is amazing. So I hope this was helpful. I hope that, yeah, you've already clicked the link in the show notes and gotten it ordered and get it set up. Okay. Let me know if you have any questions, but always contact bark. If you have any questions, they are very responsive to the, um, helping you set it up, helping you troubleshoot and helping to make it better.
So if you see something that is, you know, not working right, if there's a glitch somewhere, let them know that. And they're going to respond to that. Now, one thing I did not mention, I don't think I mentioned it yet, is that if you like say you set it all up and you go to, or your kid goes to website that they need to access for school and it's blocking it, there is a setting that you can go in to where you allow certain sites. Okay. So I'm putting out a YouTube related episode. I think it'll probably come out before this one where I talk about how to access YouTube for if your kid has like certain links that they have to, you know, just like a certain video that they need to watch on YouTube, but you don't want them having access to it all.
Check out that episode because it will give you a way for you to take that link and put it into a safe, I can't remember the different, there's three different options that you can use to make that YouTube link safe. So you could allow that without allowing you tube, for instance. Okay. So there's ways to allow certain apps or certain websites and ways to block certain websites. So there's just so much in here for you to play with, to, to cut for you, to customize for you, to, you know, keep tight on monitoring and restrictions and all of that, and then loosening up those boundaries as they get older, as they prove more responsibility as whatever you deem to be appropriate for your kid in your family. Okay. But I'm hearing across the board about tons of parents that are struggling with their kids being addicted to their devices, because they've allowed more time because of COVID.
And now they're wanting to pull back on that and they don't know how, because their kid is truly addicted and then, or spouses that don't agree with the same restrictions, all kinds of things like that. This can help that because of the screen time limits, you can have a conversation with them, let them know that you're concerned about this. And so we are going to take these steps and this is what's going to happen. And then, you know, it just sets it down. It lays it down. It's like, if it's a certain time that they're in class, you have it available during that time. And when you know that that time is up, then they have to go and do something else because their devices now blocked because it's lunchtime, it's, you know, PE time, whatever. Okay. So click the link in my show notes, get it today.
If you don't already have bark, subscribe to that as well, bark.us and use the code beat that mom, the device is not yet available on barks website. Last I checked, I talked to them and that is coming, but it is not there yet. So use the link that I have, that is where you can buy it right now. It is at a reduced price and it is in beta testing. So you will be a part of the beta test group. So communicate with them. If there is any issues that you notice so they can continually improve this. There's absolutely nothing out on the market that will provide this most comprehensive of coverage for all of the things with our kiddos. Okay. So be that mom beat out mom strong, and let's do this. All right. Talk to you next time.
Thanks for tuning in being that mom isn't easy, but together we can be that mom's strong. Don't forget to leave a review, connect on social and join Dolly's free community till next time.
