Sleep and relaxation. How much do you get?

Do you ever have those days where everything just seems to get to you. I have had a few lately and after a full day of patients and tons of miles to drive, the exhaustion is sometimes too much. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

How much sleep do you usually get? If you are anything like me, or have a career like mine, this is a touuuuchy subject!! Am I right? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I usually average about 5 to 6 hours but shoot for 7 if I can. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The truth is, being chronically sleep-deprived throws off our serotonin balance, aka happy hormone, and when we sleep, our organs recuperate, our cells regenerate, our thoughts suspend and when we wake up, we are literally starting with a fresh slate! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

😴Shoot for 7 to 8 hours of sleep when possible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

😴Take time each night before bed and when you wake up for a few minutes of positive reflection to prime the mind in a positive light, device free!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

P.S. Put kids’ devices in a central place at a designated time each night, not in their bedrooms, to help them sleep and not feel drawn to check in, AKA give them permission to completely disconnect, which has been shown to improve sleep while also improving focus and self-esteem. (I have seen the effects of NOT doing this, so please be THAT Mom for your kids. #BeTHATMomMovement)
